It's on rare occasion that I pull out the little box that holds my personal stationery these days. The thick cottony layers sit patiently, stacked neatly inside a midnight blue box. They're just an arm's reach away, tucked in the lowest drawer of my bedside table, but I rarely open that drawer. I wish I had a reason.

Surprise a friend with a letter. Personally, I'd love to get a letter from a friend.
ReplyDeleteI haven't written a proper snail mail letter in quite some time. Cards and such, yes, but a true letter? It's been over a year. The truth is, I haven't had the occasion. The immediacy of e-mail and texts and phone seem to trump the delay of letter delivery, you know? But yes, it is still so nice to open up a folded piece of mail and see a friend's handwritten scribbles across a page. I can actually visualize my friends' longhand prints right now. It's part of their identity.
DeleteThere's this habit I have of buying stationary that I might never use. When I'm cleaning, I pull it out to admire and then just find a new place to put it in. The sad shelf life of stationary.
ReplyDeleteI put the kibosh on buying pretty paper goods a while back. I still have some from a trip to Korea ages ago!
DeleteI love that you own stationary engraved with your initials. It seems very grown up. I want some now.
ReplyDeleteIronically, I'd probably be the least grown-up grownup you'll ever meet.
