Metropolitan's Carrot Cake

My eyes were bigger than my stomach - again. While we certainly made a respectful dent in the cake, I don't have enough friends with whom I can share this goodness. Friendless and sad that the cake may go stale before long, I even brought down a couple slices for the doormen on duty tonight. Hopefully I made their late night shifts a bit more bearable.

You thought Metropolitan's baking only extended to breads, muffins, croissants and single serving sweet treats, didn't you? No sirree, bob! They offer an entire line of cakes, too! Their lemon chiffon is good, but if you're a chocoholic, I would recommend their most popular cake, the chocolate almond flourless. At $27.50, it's a bit pricy, but its decadence is worth every penny.
