Is It Me?

If you ever want to find me alone and minding my own business, chances are pretty good that I'm doing just that in Madison Square Park on Sunday mornings.  This sliver of greenery has become my go-to place to clear my head.  I zone out with some reading material and keep my headphones in my ears, but psst, sometimes that last part is just for show.  This way, I don't run the risk of an ogling homeless man striking up random non-sensical conversation with me.  Does that ever happen to you?  Random people approaching you when you're just not in the mood to make new friends?

I ask because I am always the person on the train or bus whom last minute passengers ask, "Is this seat taken?"  Meanwhile, I look around to see that every other passenger has an empty seat next to them.  All those other seats and you choose this one?  Really?  I'm not a particularly inviting person to strangers, at least I don't think.  So, what gives, universe?

    1. I shouldn't cringe when I hear nice things, but I do. Thank you for the encouragement. It means a lot. :)

Of all the names in the whole wide world, I chose that one. If the universe works that way, well, then the next one might have to be Colin. As in, Colin Firth.

  2. it's like cats--they cozy up to those who are allergic or those who otherwise would like to not be cozied up to by a cat.
you must give off your vibe of kindness at a steady hum, that might be why you make strangers feel safe.
    love this photo too :)

    1. I would love a sweet little kitten as a companion. If only I didn't have allergies and an aversion to cat fur getting into everything!
